VBS 2017

VBS 2017 was a HUGE success!  This year children learned to “Go Forth” and were taught that serving others not only brings them closer to Christ, but can be a lot of fun too!

The week of activities ended with an epic water day and cookout!  VBS is open to all rising K-5 graders, $10 per child or $15 per family.   We also welcomed and encouraged youth in grades 6-12 to volunteer!

See you next year for VBS 2018!

Holy Week begins April 9

Holy Week begins on Palm Sunday with 8:00 and 10:15 services on April 9.  It continues with Tenebrae on Wednesday, April 12 at 7:00 p.m.  Tenebrae is a service of lessons, prayers, and musical offerings to help us focus on the battle between darkness and light.  Those who attended last year for the first time remarked how meaningful it was for them.

Maundy Thursday service will also be at 7:00 p.m. and the focus will be on three mandates: “Do this in remembrance of me,” the institution of the Eucharist at the last supper and the command to love and serve one another as evidenced in the foot washing.  We conclude this dramatic and moving service with the stripping of the altar, leaving us with on the Good Friday cross to contemplate.

Good Friday services will be at noon and 7:00 p.m. where we’ll think and meditate on Christ’s passion and his death for our sins. We will walk the Stations of the Cross beginning at 6:00 p.m.

All of this will end with glorious services at 8:00 and 10:15 on April 16, Easter Sunday!  Between the services will be Easter Breakfast at 9:00. All are welcome!

If you’re searching for a church in Orlando to celebrate Easter, we would love for you to join us.  Our address is 1603 E. Winter Park Rd, Orlando, FL 32803.

Spring forward!

Daylight Savings Time begins this Sunday, March 12.  Remember to move your clocks ahead one hour before going to bed on Saturday!

Ash Wednesday is March 1

Lent begins with Ash Wednesday, 1 March. It is customary for Christians across the world to attend church services on this day and receive ashes on the forehead as a sign of penitence. Join us at Emmanuel for services that day at 12:05pm and 7:00pm.

Souper Bowl Sunday!

This Sunday is Souper Bowl Sunday! Please bring cans of soup to church on February 5. Donations may be left in the bin in the Narthex. Thank you!

2017 Annual Meeting

This year’s Annual Meeting will be held on January 29th following the 10:15 service. We will hear reports from our wardens and rector, and present the budget.  Please plan on attending.

Acts 2:42 Crew

acts242theydevoted12We are beginning an exciting, new, on-going, and weekly, CO-ED Bible study starting Tuesday, September 20th at 6:15 pm.
Our group will be called the Acts 242 Crew which, in short, means we will be sharing meals, study, and prayer.  This will not be your usual Bible study.  It will be more about exploring our Christian faith with the Bible as our guide. We will be studying the Bible, authors who try to answer the mystery of Christianity, and subjects that are relevant to the liturgical calendar. We will meet in the Parish Hall at 6:15 for dinner, with the study from 7:00-8:30.  The first study will be “Bible Basics: An Introduction to the Scriptures.” Join us!  We will break a little bread, visit, and learn something about Christianity, the Bible, and what it all means! RSVP to Pete Rogers at Peterogers@avaya.com, or call / text 321-439-8198.
Acts 2:42:  All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.
