Advent Festival 2017

ADVENT STARTS this week! We’ve got lots of events coming up for you to enjoy, and opportunities for your involvement!

Dec. 10, Advent Festival: Following the 10:15am service, please join us for Emmanuel’s Advent Festival, with crafts, lunch, and a bake sale to benefit our outreach, and of course Jack Austin’s Anglican Chant Boot Camp.

Music at Emmanuel Dec. 3

The Bell Choir and Men’s Schola (short for Schola cantorum – school for singers) have been hard at work to raise the quality of their offerings and increase their impact upon the life of the parish. On December 3rd, both of these ensembles will be featured at Evensong, providing all the service music required by the Office.  Also at Evensong on December 3rd, our special guest Tim Smith, Director of Music and Organist at All Saints’, Winter Park, will play a short recital after the Office is sung. His program will include works of Bach, Mozart and Stanford. At Lessons and Carols on the 17th, we will be joined once again by a String Quartet. Special programming for the balance of the 2017-2018 season will be announced in the Evensong bulletin.

There will be a reception in the courtyard following the concert.

Stewardship continues…

Thank you for joining us for our Stewardship Brunch last Sunday! This week, we’ll have 2018 pledge cards for everyone as we look forward to our in-gathering at the end of the month. Remembering our vision for the school, here’s a brief reflection:

The 8/18 Vision

Our ministry is already grounded in two of the fastest growing neighborhoods in Orlando, Audubon and Baldwin Parks. In addition, many of our people come from across Orlando to enjoy our community. As the school across the street comes online in 8/18…

We want to have a hands-on ministry to the school, working towards an after-care program that meets the needs of busy families, as well as sharing Christ’s love with the students.

We want to deepen our Children’s Formation. Having a Children and Family Minister to help develop and administer weekday and weekend programming will allow us to keep our kids trained in the ways of the Gospel

Evensong to Honor Pulse Victims

On Sunday, May 21, at 4:00pm, a Choral Evensong will be offered at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 1603 E. Winter Park Rd., Orlando, in observance of Rogation Sunday. A highlight of this beautiful service will be the first performance of Ubi caritas, an anthem commissioned for the church’s choir as a memorial to those who died at Pulse on June 12, 2016. Zachary Wadsworth, the composer, is among the brighter lights of today’s music scene. The service will be followed by a Rogation Procession and reception in the garden.

While admission is free, gifts in support of the parish Music Guild will be requested. All are welcome.
