Welcome from Rev. Dr. Malcolm F. Murchison +

Greetings in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ:

Let me tell you a little about Emmanuel Episcopal Church. We are a “Transitional” sized parish averaging 150-160 people per Sunday, but we are experiencing growth that we hope will make us a “Program” sized parish. We were founded in 1954 in a storefront and our current building was completed in 1964. We are conveniently located about 10 minutes from downtown Orlando, about five minutes from downtown Winter Park and two minutes from Baldwin Park.

Our 8 o’clock service is Rt I and said, while our 10:15 service is a choral Eucharist with a full choir. Our music tends toward the traditional with some contemporary and I must say that for a smaller parish we have a very fine music ministry. The quality of our program is due to a great group of choristers, a dedicated Organist/Choirmaster who trained with the Royal School of Church Music, a very able Heissler seventeen rank tracker organ and the fact that this beautiful little church has outstanding acoustics.

We also have a children’s music program that is incorporated into our Children’s Chapel. The children offer their musical ministry regularly at the 10:15 service. In order to be family friendly, we offer Children’s Chapel and Sunday School at the 10:15 hour, the children joining their parents for Eucharist. Our Adult Education is at 9:00, childcare provided. We have recently added a casual Eucharist with contemporary/Cursillo style music at 5 PM on Saturdays in the Chapel

Our preaching varies from liturgical to pastoral to topical, but it is always Biblical and Christ centered.

Being so close to downtown Orlando makes us a rather diverse parish theologically and politically and to a lesser extent socially. But whatever our theology, politics or social station, we are committed to Jesus Christ as Lord, the preaching and modeling of the Gospel and reaching out according to Jesus’ “Great Commission” mandate to make disciples.

Most of us are professionals; some of us are retired. Many live in the immediate neighborhood and many commute some distance to worship at Emmanuel. We are all ages with a growing Sunday School and Youth Program.

If you are looking for a church home in the Orlando area, please pay us a visit.

All blessings,

The Rev. Dr. Malcolm F. Murchison +
